It is with great joy that I say these few words to you, not only to present the Institution I am in charge of, but also to share with you the vision and mission that we think are appropriate to give Africa all its dignity in a more prosperous environment.
Afriland First Bank was born in 1987, under the leadership of Dr. Paul FOKAM and other Africans who are determined to give another image of the African continent that the economic crisis of the 80s had greatly confined to the bottom of the abyss. This initiative, whose ambition is first of all boosted by a socio-cultural African project, is driven by the desire to give back to the African his dignity that has been trampled upon for centuries.

Its originality and timeliness together with adapted solutions that it had to provide to economic operators in a paralytic and exhausted financial environment enabled it to rapidly gain the confidence of customers. The basis of this confidence was reinforced by the credo that the First bank gave to itself “Your Interest is Our Priority”. It made this its main philosophy of action and the quality of services rendered did not betray this assertion.

Our achievements are many and varied and the results have lived up to expectations (Extension of the network, satisfactory financial results, poverty reduction in rural areas, development of payment and secure and flexible money transfer instruments, development of a range of financial instruments for business persons; extension of banking services to the undeprivileged).

Today, the name Afriland First Bank is synonymous with:

+ Africa’s determination to get out of the vicious circle of poverty and to take its destiny into its own hands;
+ the revalorization of African values so that they can serve as the basis of a policy of conscientization and development;
+ the recognition of SME/SMIs as the driving force of economic revival;
+ the confidence in the African youths and the development of their capacity, a way to projecting into the future;
+ the contribution of vitality through reflection, action, innovation in a fast-changing world;
+ the development of irreproachable quality services.

That is why we are inviting you to join this exalting adventure in order to recreate an environment that is compatible with our socio-cultural values on a viable economic basis so that Africa should truly, resolutely and irreversibly wake up.
